In my current role as a community news reporter I am responsible for covering Westlake and Lake Travis areas for two of the Statesman weekly community newspapers, although my work often appears in the Statesman as well. I cover city council, school board meetings and many other topics. As a metro intern for the Statesman last summer, I covered wrote breaking and daily news stories as well as longer features on topics including race and religion, food systems, higher education, housing and the continued impact of the pandemic in Central Texas. Here are a few of my favorite stories from my time writing about the Austin area.
