I started covering education as a student journalist in high school and ever since I have sought out opportunities to write about schools — from public education systems to colleges and universities. I have covered schools in California, Vermont and Texas, each with their own mandates, cultures and policies. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought increased attention to what happens in schools, and education journalism is more important now than ever.
